Bibby + Brady | How We Work

It's scary how close we're getting to Christmas, how did that sneak up so fast?! We all want our homes to look great for the holiday season, when our family and friends may be visiting. Today I thought I'd run through how Bibby + Brady (my interior design business with Dael Brady) works, for those of you who don't know and my be interested. If you want to hire our services before Christmas, now is the time to do it - we have limited available spaces left for this year.

Dael & I work mainly with residential clients, but we absolutely love the commercial projects we've worked on to, and can't wait for more. You can hire us on an hourly basis if you want help with sourcing furniture, picking paint colours, adding those finishing touches to your home... Or you can hire us to design a complete room. When we're working on a room design we need to get a really good feel for our client's wants and needs. Each concept board is tailor made to fit those requirements and our client's taste. Everything we feature on the board we can source (apart from the occasional inspirational image).

Once you have your concept board, and love it, you can purchase a shopping list from us. This will list every item, including paint, fabric, flooring etc, a description of each and a price. We will pass on any designer discounts to you that are available to us, so although you're paying for the shopping list, you're saving time and money by letting us help you.

When we work with local client's, we relish the opportunity to help create our vision, and are available to project manage the design, recommending and working with tradesmen. We have successfully worked with lots of clients who live outside of Hawke's Bay too. It just means you have to project manage the job yourself, but we will be available to help in whatever way we can with advice and recommendations. And we can organise to have furniture, rugs, artwork and homeware shipped anywhere in New Zealand. If you would like to work with Dael and I, or just have a question, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

A Home with History

I've just been flicking through the latest Rue Magazine, and came across this home, which I love. It belongs to mother-of-two, and owner of fashion label 'We Are Kindred', Lizzie Renkert. You can tell from the entrance that it's going to be a fabulous home, and what I love about it is it's sense of history. Lizzie has mixed new pieces with items that once belonged to her parents and grandparents, and much-loved furniture bought on her travels (my favourite is the antique dresser in the bathroom).

Adding pieces into your house that have a sense of history helps to create a soulful and interesting home, especially if they have meaning to you. Make sure you mix old and new wherever possible. To see and read more about this beautiful home, and lots of other fabulous inspiration, check out this issue of Rue.

Patternz Pareo & Peshtemals | Giveaway

I love starting the week with a giveaway, and this one is very timely with summer and Christmas just around the corner. Patternz is a newly launched company specialising in lovely pareo and peshtemals sourced from Turkey and India. Made from 100% cotton with hand-knotted tassels, these traditional Turkish towels are lightweight, extremely absorbent, and dry five times faster than standard towels.

The larger summer blanket makes a great picnic blanket, throw, or even a tablecloth. The pareo can be used everyday at home, and because they take up very little room in your bag and dry so quickly, they're perfect to take to the beach or the gym.

Patternz are giving away one of their super light weight pareos to three lucky Cush & Nooks readers. To enter simply "like" the Patternz Facebook page, and then email me with your choice of colour - baby blue, beige, grey, navy, or yellow. We'd love it if the winners could upload a photo of their pareo to Facebook once they have it and tag Patternz. Competition open to New Zealand residents only.

They're very simple, but beautiful products which will soften with age and use. Pick one up for yourself, or why not get one in every colour for your family's Christmas gifts. Pop over and see the full range here

The three winners will be randomly drawn this Friday 14 November at 4pm. Winners will be contacted by email and I will also announce their names on my Facebook page. Good luck!
