The Art of the Vignette

One of my favourite things in a home is a beautifully styled vignette - a group of objects displayed together. It's these kinds of details that give you a clue to the person who lives there, adds personality. There is a real art to it, but once you've mastered it, you can apply it to so many areas in your home.

My advice is to layer - place objects on top of each other, in front of each other; books are great to use in a vignette. Make sure you add different shapes, heights and textures to create interest; flowers and plants add wonderful texture. And have fun with it, change your vignettes regularly - you get better with practice.

Bookshelves are perfect for a series of vignettes.

It doesn't have to be complicated, it can be really simple.

Don't forget your bathroom and dressing table.

Even your kitchen bench.

Shops are full of vignettes, and Anna Spiro from Absolutely Beautiful Things is a guru of vignettes.
