Stripe It Bold

I think you all know that I am a pattern worshiper! Stripes are definitely a favourite of mine. But as well as your standard stripes, I love big bold stripes! Just one big, bold stripe makes such a gorgeous statement - Yes, I'm big and I'm bold! A couple of smaller stripes alongside works really well too.

I already own a Clare Vivier clutch (like the one pictured below), and now I want one of everything else pictured - love the jeans x

And you can apply a bold stripe into your home as well. I love this living room that Michelle from The Design Chaser featured recently on the Milo & Mitzy blog. I'm planning on painting a corner of my living room like that now, where my desk is - to create a room within a room.

Don't stop there... The bed and chair (pictured below) have been given a new lease on life by adding a single graphic stripe. I think they look fantastic, it's a brilliant way of putting a contemporary spin on an older piece.

And these curtains are so beautiful! I love the idea of using dual fabric for contrast. The soft colours are in keeping with the serene bedroom, while still adding some 'wow'!

Boy's Bedroom Concept

Dael & I have been working on a Bibby + Brady design concept for an 11 year old boy's bedroom. Having five young daughters between us, we have really enjoyed this challenge. It's been fantastic coming up with a 'boysy' look, and not an ounce of pink anywhere!
Oh hang on, there's a tiny bit of pink on the Subway wallpaper, but I think we'll be forgiven, since it's so cool!

We wanted the bedroom to be fun and cool, and a room that would grow with our young client as he heads into his teenage years. We kept the base neutral in black & white, and added pops of bright colour in the artwork and accessories. The subway wallpaper will make a great feature on one wall, and it's all grounded with a chevron rug.

If you would like to know more about any of our selection, or if you would like some help pulling a room together, drop me an email. We can also help with paint and fabric choices, or furniture sourcing. Sometimes you know what you want but just need help with the last few details, or confirmation that you're on the right track. We'd love to help. x

Black & White Stripes - Guest Post

We are vey lucky to have the lovely Amy from Milo and Mitzy guest posting here today.
I know you'll love her, so enjoy her post. And don't forget to check at the end of the blog post where I will name the winners of the Little Artist and Candybox giveaways.

It is an absolute pleasure to be with you today as a guest blogger for Vic here at Cush & Nooks. Cush & Nooks was one of the first blogs that I started following a few years back now. Vic does colour to perfection. I on the other hand do love colour, however black and white in the home gets me every time. This love for black and white is evident over on my blog, Milo and Mitzy. I love mixing black and white with raw wood, concrete, textiles and other materials.

Today I have chosen to share some images featuring black and white stripes. Like me,
I know that Vic is also a big fan of stripes.

Black and white stripes, it doesn’t matter how they are used, fashion or interiors, prove extremely eye catching. I find myself constantly drawn to black and white striped clothing on the racks and a black and white striped rug or cushion gets me every single time. You can find a similar rug here or similar bed wear hereMixing stripes with other patterns such as geometric patterns or spots is a clever and cool way to use stripes.

I hope you have enjoyed the inspiration today and thanks for having me Vic.
