The space below stopped me in my tracks when I came across it last week on Design*Sponge. Velvet seating in emerald green and fuchsia, colourful cushions and rug, a major injection of fun and quirkiness in the picture wall... this is my kind of space.
Upon further reading it came as no surprise that my favourite designer, Emily Henderson, was behind it. She helped her good friend, Joy Cho of the gorgeous blog Oh Joy, design and create this new studio. After running her business from home for 8 years, Joy decided it was time to have a separate work space. Somewhere she could leave work on her desk and not have to worry that her wee daughter or the cat would get hold of it.
The space before was a large blank canvas. Joy wanted it to be white and bright with touches of colour. Instead of painting out the brick, they embraced it's warm tones along with accents of wood and gold.
Divisions of space have been created in the large open room with the help of rugs, furniture placement, amazing ribbon features, and also a painted floor.
A fun grey and white striped pattern was painted throughout most of the room with the work end defined by a solid grey floor.
Fun and quirky, not to mention fabulous touches and accessories have been used throughout.
The dining room/meeting area consists of cute chairs in different colours, and an amazing installation above the table by Bramble Workshop. Shelving fully stocked with props to use when shooting for the blog (swoon!) make a fab backdrop.
Even the kitchen doesn't escape without some gorgeous touches of brilliance! A Smeg fridge, shelving with brass braces and lots of colour. The customised Ikea cabinet is a favourite of mine - cute new handles have been added, and a delightful toe kick. This is definitely a space where some awesome creativity will take place. I'm certainly inspired, aren't you?!
