Light & Lovely

Here's a home to make you swoon...! We've come accustomed to the gorgeous light and bright interiors typical of Scandinavian design, and this home doesn't disappoint. There are a raft of contrasting textures, but because they're all in the same white, silver, and blush pink tones, they don't overpower. A few of my favourite elements are the subway tiles laid out in a parquet pattern, the simple padded headboard, and, of course, the hanging chair.

This apartment was furnished and styled by the VT Wonen team for their digital Magalogue. They styled two apartments that were up for sale, this one was designed for a professional couple. The photos below were taken on their open day by the talented Paulina Arcklin.
A former freelance interior magazine writer and photo stylist, based in Amsterdam, Paulina now runs her business Picture This Concept Photography. She plans all her own photos, styles them and photographs them - how clever! Her clients include interior producers, interior designers, and owners of web shops.

If you liked the hanging chair in the first photo, a range of the ever popular hanging pod chairs will be arriving at the end of this month. I have the chair on the far left, and the one on the far right in my Cush & Nooks store, but if anyone is interested in any of the others, just drop me an email with your enquiry.

This is my Zara pod chair - my favourite spot to relax.

In Love With Inaluxe

I first discovered Inaluxe over at endemicworld, and fell head over heels in love with their print 'Conversations in Summer'. After viewing their whole collection, I'm now in a dilemma as I want all of them!

Let me tell you a little bit about Inaluxe (if you haven't already met them). Inaluxe is Kristina Sostarko and Jason Odd, two former art students whose studio is in a small country town in the Grampians, Victoria, Australia. They specialise in illustration and design with a philosophy to 'make it beautiful, use the best materials possible, and be responsible and sustainable in production practice'. Their print production process is museum and gallery standard, printed on the best archival fine art papers, to ensure they will stand the test of time - "if you're going to do something, do it well!".

I'm drawn to their abstract prints, and these are my absolute favourites...

Conversations in Summer

Atmosphere

Colour-Fall

Atlas 39

Atlas 59

But I'm also entranced by these gorgeous felines, and I'm sure my three daughters would love them in their bedrooms...

The Tale of Mr Cat

The Sleepy Lion range

And the birds and botanical prints are simply gorgeous as well...

Red Winged Fairy Wren

Hootenanny Owl and The Hopeful Sooty Owl

Botanical Assembly 1

Aren't they amazing?! What do you think, have you got a favourite?

Wine & Design 2012

I'm really excited to tell you about a fantastic event that I'm taking part in this coming Thursday 18th October. It's called Wine & Design, an evening held at the stunning Tom McDonald Cellar at Church Road Winery, Taradale, Napier from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
Come along, bring your mates, and do some shopping with a glass of wine in your hand.
I'll have a lot of my gorgeous Cush & Nooks products for sale, and there will be lots of other stalls with more treasures and beautiful things to buy.

Tickets cost $13, and that includes a glass of delicious Church Road wine, and yummy canapes by Dish. You can pick up your tickets anytime now from Church Road Winery,
or Coco and Co, who are the organisers of this event. You can find Coco and Co at 232 Heretaunga Street East, Hastings. Tickets will be available on the night, but if you think you can make it, give Church Road a ring on 844 2053 during the week, as that will give them an idea of numbers for the catering.

You can bring cash, and get a start on that Christmas shopping, but EFTPOS will also be available. If you're not the driver, and wish to indulge in more than one glass of wine, there will be a bar operating. And, luckily for us, Friday is Hawke's Bay Day, so we can all have a sleep in the next day :) Hope to see you there x
